For OHFA Shield loans, participating lenders reserve and lock in OHFA's portal; OHFA starts a 72-hour review after upload notice, reviews conditions within 24 hours, funds DPA at closing, and requires post-closing documents within 5 business days.

OHFA's Special Interest Rates for Public Servants page says Shield rates are available to firefighters, law enforcement, and EMS personnel who use OHFA Homebuyer Down Payment Assistance products, buy in Oklahoma, occupy the home as a primary residence within 60 days, and have a middle credit score of 640 or greater. OHFA's interest-rates page dated April 10, 2026 shows the current 4Schools/Shield/State Employees pricing at 5.500% for GOLD GOVERNMENT and 6.375% for GOLD FREDDIE, each with 3.50% down payment assistance. OHFA's GOLD product guides state eligible Shield borrowers receive a 0.125% rate reduction from the posted GOLD rate and that the 3.50% assistance is a 0% second mortgage due on maturity, sale or refinance, or transfer of ownership or primary residency status.
